Private Residence, Alderley Edge
New Build Alderley Edge
We were approached by our client to produce a handful of concept new build developments, befitting to a number of locations around South Manchester & Cheshire. Our client was looking for innovation, striking aesthetics, and a practical use of space. For this Alderley Edge new build, we aimed to really appeal to the high-end market and create something unique, with a practical use to enjoy as a family and perfect for hosting & entertaining friends.
Entering the ground floor of this Alderley Edge New Build, through a large off-pivot door you immediately feel the mass of the property with clear panoramic views out to the rear via full hight glazing. A large open central staircase occupies the hallway, the use of open treads ensures that visibility is maintained, and openness is maximised.
Symmetrical for the most part, the ground floor hosts several rooms looking to entertain kids and adults alike. The far right-hand side provides a full-length games room with office facilities at the rear, with aspects out into the rear garden via full height slimline sliding doors. The games room/office can be accessed off the designated cinema room. The main lounge sits at the front of the property with the main features of large front facing bay windows and an open fire place.
The opposite side of the main hallway looks to create symmetry. Whilst the front of the property is identical on both sides, the rear of the property boasts a unique flat roof triangular element, that creates a wonderful open plan kitchen/dining, snug space for the family to appreciate. The off centred full-height corner bi-folding door creates full openness and panoramic views across the rear of the property, and leads out to a large patio/dining space.
Flat roof lanterns above, look to follow the unique shape of the flat roof and not only maximise natural daylight, but create a focal point. Side facing letter box windows positioned between base and wall units provide side views and add natural daylight to food preparation areas.
At the front of the property sits the snug which, although is not completely separate from the open plan kitchen space, does offer some privacy. The kitchen leads off to the side with access into a large utility and boot room complete with external side access.
For the first floor we opted for quality over quantity. Leading up from the grand central staircase, sunlight radiates down through a large flat roof lantern set within the flat roof above, as well as full hight atrium glazing to the front of the property. 4 large bedrooms are accessed of the main open landing, 3 of which with en-suites large enough to be bathrooms in their own right. The front facing bedrooms reap the benefits of the large full height bay windows. Both sides of the property look to maximise head height internally via the use of valued ceilings, which allow for electrically operated roof lights to create additional natural daylight.
The master bedroom to this new build in Alderley Edge also boasts a spacious walk-in-wardrobe leading through to a large en-suite. All rear facing bedrooms take advantage of full height slimline glazing and apex glazing.
We looked to make a statement with the external design of this property and incorporated 3 distinct roof configurations to the front elevation. The striking difference between soffit levels and roof types not only breaks up the large area of the front elevation but also adds a contemporary feel to the property. The use of zinc roofing panels complements the light red/orange multi brickwork. The picture frame and full height glazing creates a modern and stylish appeal. As mentioned, the rear looks to include ample glazing, including full height apex glazing at the first floor. The rear rooms on the ground floor create an almost continuous wall of glass, and the oblong ground floor addition provides a unique focal point to the rear elevations.
