We used PJH Architectural Services for our house extension and porch changes, and would happily use them again. Communication was prompt and professional throughout - they turned up on time and got back to us quickly. They’re also nice people to deal with, which makes a difference on a project like this. Their suggestions were very useful. We discussed the extension, changes to the porch and a possible loft conversion/dormer, and they gave us honest advice, including recommending against the loft. That kind of advice, rather than just drawing whatever you ask for, is what you want from an architect. This was our first project of this type in the UK, so there were some differences in our understanding of how architects and structural engineers work. During the tender process, various builders came back with questions about insulation types, blocks and similar details. We hit a small snag at that stage which I felt could have been handled a bit better (we were happy to pay for extra service or consultation), but Peter later took the time to explain and discuss his approach, which we appreciated.Posted on Google
Ian Maudsley66 days agoPeter and the team have provided an excellent, professional service at all stages of our building project - a ground floor extension and loft conversion. From the outset Peter listened to our requirements, was helpful with ideas and suggestions, and created a design we were very happy with. He has been on hand throughout the ongoing build phase with further advice and support. Highly recommended.Posted on Google
Rev Helen Coffey68 days agoWe approached Peter from PJH Architechtural Services to help us think through the modernisation and extension of the rather dated '70's house we had just bought. Peter and his colleagues were knowlegable and inovative with design and advice, prompt with visits and paperwork, successfully guiding us through the planning and structural survey processes until our dreams were out of our heads and onto paper, and then off the paper plans and into reality as the build took shape. The new room they designed for us is now where we spend most of our time, enjoying the view of the garden :) Thank you PeterPosted on Google
Andrew Bonney70 days agoWe've recently completed a first floor extension which was designed by PJH and we'd highly recommend them. We found Peter via neighbours who had an extension done a number of years ago. Whilst we were pretty sure what we were looking for, the initial conversation with Peter on site identified a couple of areas where we could do things differently, compared to neighbours who had made similar improvements. Notably this meant we opted for a different roof design, which has allowed us to install solar panels during the works, something which another roof design would not have allowed for. In a similar vein, we've been able to increase the light in our kitchen, and have a unique design feature in our porch compared to the other cookie cutter new builds in the area. Following the initial consultation, Joe was our primary contact and did an excellent job throughout. We're very happy with the end result, and have already recommended PJH to others.+0Posted on Google

Ian Parker96 days agoWe had the pleasure of working with PJH Architectural Services on our Knutsford property, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. From our very first meeting, Peter was professional, approachable and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted to achieve, offered practical and creative advice, and guided us through the entire process with complete confidence and clarity. His drawings were of an exceptionally high standard, communication was always prompt, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. Peter's attention to detail, technical expertise and ability to find solutions made what could have been a stressful process feel straightforward and well managed. If you're looking for an architect who is reliable, experienced and genuinely cares about delivering the best outcome for his clients, PJH Architectural Services is an outstanding choice. We wouldn't hesitate to use Peter again in the future and would happily recommend him to anyone planning a home renovation, extension or new build. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Posted on Google
Andrew Lee98 days agoPeter and the team at PJH are second to none. We have utilised their services on two separate occasions and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always there to advise on the best solution. Peter regularly visited site during our builds, showing a keen interest in the process and the outcome. He’s since been back to see how the build turned out, taking time out of a busy schedule to check that our dream had been realised through his plans. My partner and I have both said we’ll never move house again, or embark on another project, but if we do, Peter will be our first callPosted on Google

Nick Capper247 days agoFive star service from the gents at PJH. Peter came round and offered guidance and ideas for our extension. From there an agreement was drawn up (which was very well priced given the level of detail they provide) and all milestones were met on time. Communication was great throughout and we were kept up to date at each stage of the process which took a lot of the stress off. Peter has recommended builders to complete the project who he was worked with before which again is a massive help. Can’t recommend enough 👍Posted on Google
dan wildsmith248 days agoPeter and team were fantastic to work with. This was our first experience of getting any sort of home improvements work done, Peter made the whole design and planning process very smooth. He explained each step clearly, helped us (and was very patient) with finalising aspects of the designs before planning. Planning etc all very smooth given quality of drawings and service. Peter also recommended contractors, which was the part we were most nervous about, both firms we contacted were very helpful, provided incredibly detailed estimates etc and the recommendation was very much appreciated by us. A great experience and would fully recommend PJH to any others.Posted on Google

Andrew Emmerson399 days agoPJH Architectural Services, what can I say. This business is an absolute breath of fresh air with its old school values and modern outlook. (none of this everything on the phone without looking and not coming to site in person nonsense). From the outset Peter was clear and concise with his expertise and invaluable advice on the build in hand that being a detached dwelling. I came to a dead end with my previous architect due to excuses ,planning conditions and other red tape complications but Peter was instrumental in pulling everything together and turning a nightmare into a perfect end result. Unfortunately I lost my original architect that I trusted in getting things done due to retirement. Then I had a really bad experience for over 18 months with two different architects that were just after a quick buck. Then I found Peter of PJH and in doing so someone I can trust with all my future builds and technical aspects from drawings to planning conditions and regulations etc Thanks again for all your help PJH I will be recommending to all I know in the building game. Absolutely Top class and friendly service!Posted on Google

Dean Atkinson443 days agoPeter & Joe were excellent throughout the entire process of planning, executing, and following up on our residential extension plans. Peter came to our house initially for a long time and really paid attention to the way light came in and the possibilities of our new home. When we got the plans back, we were gobsmacked at how much the team had done with our relatively small space. Following that, all communication was top notch and the team helped us get building regs drawings + planning permission. Could not recommend this business highly enough!Posted on Google

From the initial consultation to the final sign-off, Peter demonstrated unparalleled professionalism and expertise. Peter took the time to truly understand our vision and requirements, attentively listening to our ideas and concerns. The creative process that followed the first draft was seamless, with Peter offering invaluable insights and suggestions that greatly enhanced the design. The submission for planning permission and building sign-off was remarkably smooth, thanks to Peter's extensive local knowledge and experience. His meticulous attention to detail ensured that all aspects of the project complied with regulations, resulting in approvals obtained on the first attempt. James Graham948 days agoAfter meeting numerous architects to take on our renovation project I met Peter who had been recommended by a friend in the industry. From the off I found Peter to be incredibly knowledgeable but more importantly he listened to our thoughts as to what we wanted, was approachable, open and honest with us. Everything we were looking for! Peter and his team then set about the arduous tasks of making our dreams come to life a task he and his team accomplished and some! The drawings they produced were of exceptionally high quality, our builder described them as the best he had seen. But more than this Peter was on hand to help us, as first time renovators, through every step of the process from planning applications, to building regulations and eventually the tender process. I can’t recommend Peter and his dedicated team highly enough, planning a build is stressful but much less so with theses guys in your corner.Posted on Google

Andy Wall1469 days agoWe had a couple of consultations with architects/architectural technologists/architectural designers about our extension and rennovation project on our semi detached house. We were really struggling to work out what was best to do with the space and until we met with Peter at PJH Architectural Services we couldn't really work out how best to take forward our project. Peter had loads of ideas about what we could do with the space and the potential for utilising the additional space we'd get from the extension in the best way. None of the other designers we'd met with had been able to provide that kind of advice or vision. PJH helped with the design, planning, structural drawings and building regs processes and made it all easy and straightforward which was helpful for us, both having demanding full time jobs and two young children.Posted on Google

jean barry1606 days agoWe approached Peter and his team at PJH Architectural Services for our two storey side and single rear extension from recommendation and how pleased we were to have done that. Throughout the planning process Peter and Joe provided excellent support providing detailed plans that were in fact praised by our builder for being so detailed and who took note commenting on how they would recommend to potential customers of their own. PJH gave us a fantastic service from beginning to end with great communication at every stage of the process. There were a number of occasions I needed to go back to them but at no stage was I made to feel uncomfortable or a nuisance, quite the opposite, they went out of their way to listen and gave us advise and solutions that have resulted in a number of welcomed design features. PJH guided us throughout the entire process, providing us with all the necessary paperwork and drawings for both the builder and local council that resulted in a smooth transition into our build. Ajay Tokala1662 days agoWe had plans drawn for a double extension and loft conversion. Joe Ball came for the initial visit, listened to our needs and rough plan we had in mind. He explained the options available, the practicalities of planning application and chances of getting permission with the various options. PJH sent us two options for the interior layout based on the initial discussions, and were flexible to amend the final design and layout to our liking. They dealt with the whole planning application and queries from the council including help arranging additional survey as asked by the council. After the planning was granted, they did the final plans and also put me in touch with a structural engineer. They also recommended builders they worked with before, one of whom we eventually chose. Overall excellent professional service, highly recommended.Posted on Google

Joe has been our main contact throughout and has managed the process from planning application to completed drawings. He has been a support and help on the end of the phone from the start, even when busy on lots of projects they will get back to you and get things sorted. We worked together to get the designs we love, and he handled the inevitable negotiations with the planners. James Quincey2083 days agoWould highly recommend PJH - Peter was really helpful and brought his professionalism and knowledge to help us in delivering renovation plans. We had a good idea of what we wanted to achieve but the little bits of advice and nuance that Peter brought, along with offering different design options, have really added value. Supported us throughout the planning, building regs and structural drawings phases (including a few amendments) and then helped appointing a contractor. Always available at the end of the phone to chat things through too. Thanks Peter - will be in touch for future projects for sure.Posted on Google
Glyn Williams2101 days agoPeter and his team provided us with an excellent service when drawing up plans for our kitchen extension last autumn. They took time to really listen to us and understand what we wanted and did a very thorough job. But also gave us the benefit of their knowledge and experience, particularly in relation to what was permitted planning wise and coming up with good ideas to make better use of the space we had. They were friendly and professional and delivered very clear and useful plans within the timeframe the promised. Plus they were happy to promptly answer the few queries we had. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Peter and Joe (who did our detailed plans) to anyone needed similar work done.Posted on Google
Matt Lomas2101 days agoWe chose Peter and the team after an initial consultation with a few architecture firms. We chose PJH because they listened to what the client wants, and advised appropriately in sympathy with budget. Their costs were very open and at every step have offered as much or as little advice and service as our project required. Our design passed through planning 1st time and was a pleasing mix of fitting exactly what we wanted and proposing solutions we hadn’t thought of. Would recommend, especially if you are a first timer on home build projects. For reference the project is a rear and side extension for a suburban detached housePosted on Google
Brian Critchley2102 days agoWe approached PJH as we were building an extension on the rear of our house. Throughout the process of planning Peter and Joe provided superb support and knowhow. They guided us when required and provided all the necessary paperwork and drawings to ensure a smooth transition into the build. I would definitely use PJH again and highly recommend their services.Posted on Google

Jenifer B2312 days agoPJH have been really great to work with. They took time to discuss what I wanted to achieve, developed plans that were mindful of budget, and on schedule. They have always been fast to answer queries and help during the process - I cannot recommend them highly enough. I'd previously tried a different firm, who didn't seem as keen to listen to my criteria, and were not going to be good value for money. Equally I know friends have had plans drawn up very cheaply, and then had no support when they've inevitably wanted advice during the build process. Many thanks to Peter and the team.Posted on Google
Hannah Glanville2316 days agoPeter and team provided the architectural guidance and drawings etc for our ground floor and loft extension and we could not recommend them enough - from the very outset Peter has listened to our needs and provided a wealth of advice and suggestions which have helped us shape a space that will work perfectly for us. Being new to the local area Peter has also provided a wealth of links to other excellent suppliers that has been invaluable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend PJH to anyone looking for a professional, highly experienced and friendly team.Posted on Google
Darryl Crossley2322 days agoEngaged with PJH on a set of architectural drawings for a ground floor rear extension. The engagement began prior to buying the property where my wife and I needed some advice, continuing through to idea/requirement gathering as part of a formal quotation, the end to end experience has been fantastic. During the initial consultation, ideas were shared which really resonated, this gave us complete confidence we had the correct team to support our plans. I highly recommend PJH and would definitely use again for the next stage of our modernisation project.Posted on Google
Nick Sands2419 days agoPJH Architectural Services advised us on our cellar conversion and kitchen extension. Having never used an architect before, we went with a recommendation from a friend and we were delighted that we did. PJH advised us on the planning process from start to finish. They provided advice and appropriate challenge to our plans and suggested alternative ideas for us to consider. The whole process could not have been smoother and planning permission was granted two weeks ahead of schedule. They were flexible regarding our desire to seek quotes from a number of structural engineers. The quality of their drawings made the process for getting builders quotes very straight-forward and all the builders we sought quotes from commented on how good the drawings were. We would not hesitate to use PJH again or recommend them to anyone embarking on a building project.Posted on Google

mike birch2571 days agoWe have used PJH on two building projects to date and found them very professional and insightful. On both occasions their ideas and advice led to a change in our initial plans and led to a much better outcome which we were delighted with. In our experience it is difficult to find an architect who would offer planning ideas. Most will just draw what you tell them. It is the ability to think and offer advice that separates PJH from the others. They also took care of the planning and building regs which was very welcome. We would certainly recommend PJHPosted on Google
Gill Clements2573 days agoWe used peter for a open plan kitchen extension and he was very knowledgeable and really helpful throughout the process of drawings and submitting plans. We would definitely recommend peter. Adam and gill, ManchesterPosted on Google
Home Dolce2609 days agoI've used PJH Architectural Services on two occasions, and would highly recommend them to anybody! Initially, Peter assisted with our house extension and did such a fabulous job, we didn't hesitate to engage him when we came to do the cellar conversion 2 years later. We've subsequently recommended him to friends and family, and he's done a fabulous job for them also.+0Posted on Google
lois gilbert2616 days agoPeter and joe were brilliant the whole way through our build. We initially contacted peter to discuss some options for our extension, we were so impressed we used his services to design the project, tender the contract to his trusted contractors and monitor the build from a professional viewpoint the whole way through with fortnightly visits to site. We couldn’t be happier with the results and are looking to use all these services again for an annex building in the near future. We have already recommended him to family and friends.Posted on Google

He took the time to listen to what our needs were as a family and then gave us lots of advice and really brought everything to life with his plans. He was even really understanding after we changed our minds and he had to change the plans! Great guy and great service, all at a very reasonable rate.Posted on Google
