Design & Build Novated Contractor

We were commissioned by Slate Developments to support them in their proposed expansion of a warehouse at one of FedEx’s distribution centers in Milton Keynes.

Having established a strong and efficient working relationship with Slate Developments on prior projects, they approached us with confidence to assist one of their longstanding clients, FedEx.

FedEx, officially known as FedEx Corporation, is a global courier delivery services company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Founded in 1971 by Frederick W. Smith, FedEx envisioned an integrated air-to-ground system for overnight deliveries and currently operates 75 nationwide distribution hubs.

The Brief

Our task was to create planning drawings for two additional loading docks, extending the existing distribution warehouse. The extensions, featuring HGV loading bays, consisted of a 6-bay and 5-bay addition on both the North and East elevations. External materials seamlessly complemented the existing property, incorporating horizontally laid composite cladding panels, a mono-pitched clad roof, all supported by a new steel portal frame.

The Design

Slate Developments provided us with initial concept structural drawings, which we developed into comprehensive planning and working drawings. This information enabled our client to secure the necessary Local Authority approvals and generate precise tender documents, offering FedEx cost certainty throughout the project.

Our detailed drawings served as the foundation for the construction phase and were closely followed during on-site activities.
