Sandileigh Avenue - Hale, Altrincham
Extension Altrincham
Having just bought a traditional 3 bed 1930’s semi-detached property, our client invited PJH Architectural Services to be part of their home development project comprising of a proposed home extension in Altrincham.
Their brief was very simple, they were looking to transform this tired semi-detached property into a stunning contemporary family home for themselves and their 3 young children, (now 4 at the time of writing) which they can enjoy as a family unit.
Having discussed available budgets at the initial consultation, it was important to provide design ideas that not only achieved and ticked off all the necessary elements from our clients brief, but also to provide a design that fitted within budgets.
We soon provided designs orientated around a ground floor side and rear extension, which maximised the available site. Contained within a ground floor rear parapet flat roof extension, we created a large open plan kitchen/dining/snug area orientated around a focal point of a large island, complete with a large feature rooflight and flush threshold sliding doors – which combined together, maximises the amount of natural daylight available within the room. The side extension part occupied an invaluable separate utility room complete with side external access, in addition the incorporation of a separate WC accessed off the hallway, was critical for a young growing family.
As part of the first floor design, we opted to reconfigure the existing layout to create 3 good sized bedrooms as well as creating a master bedroom with Juliet balcony to the rear, complete with a separate en-suite and new master bathroom. We felt that by adding the juliet balcony doors this enhanced the aesthetics of the rear elevation, in addition the parapet flat roof extension enables the use of a roof lantern to maximise natural daylight and creates a stylish focal point to the Altrincham extension.
As well as providing detailed planning and building regulations services, we also provided full contractor tender services and full on site supervision, which provided site attendance throughout the project on a fortnightly basis to review progress, report on workmanship and ensure that our client was fully up to date with site activity at all times throughout the Altrincham extension project, this service also ensured that there was a 24-7 professional advice available to the contractor throughout the project.
