Ground floor rear kitchen extension in Ellenbrook!

Works have been completed on our clients detached property at Crombouke Fold, Ellenbrook, Worlsey, where we designed a ground floor rear kitchen extension.

Firstly, we provided our client with a free initial consultation – in which we learnt a bit more about WHY they wanted an extension and what they wanted to get out of the new area/ floor space. As a young family, our client wanted to create a communal space in which the whole family could enjoy together.

The existing layout provided a divide from kitchen to diner to lounge and also included a large conservatory space which was massively under-utilised floor space. As mentioned in our clients brief, we were looking to bring the family closer together – so the logical step was to knock down the divides and create a large open plan living area.

Looking to make the most out of the available space, the existing underutilised conservatory was demolished and a rear extension constructed, which added circa 2m’s to the full width of the rear elevation. This additional floor space was used to accommodate the newly designed open plan kitchen/ diner & snug space. This design provided the whole family with a multi-functional space for food preparation, dining, entertaining or simply watching TV

The new rear extension was purposely designed with 2 set of bi-folding doors which allow for a real connection to the outdoors and create a perfect space for accommodating family events and making the most out of the summer months. A vaulted roof complete with 3 rooflights were installed within the rear extension to help produce an “open” feel to the space and, when coupled with the folding doors, allows for plentiful amounts of natural daylight. Rooflights also add to the unique & sleek design of the kitchen when installed with a chamfered finish, see picture. To Learn more about Velux windows see our blog here.

Our clients then used a local trusted kitchen/interior designer to further enhance the use of their newly formed internal space. Working very closely with Diane Berry Kitchens, the new kitchen, dining, snug, utility space & children’s play/office area, was specifically designed to accommodate the family’s needs and requirements. We produced detailed planning drawings, which were approved by Salford City Council within the standard 8 weeks timescale, we then provided detailed tender and building regulations drawings for  our clients.
